Lightweight
After several years of development, testing and refinement, a new concept in fire door core technology has emerged. SafeCore® is a proprietary pre-banded mineral core that is much lighter in weight by comparison. The core material, SKAMOTEC™ 300, at only 18.7 pcf density (300 kg/m³), is up to 60% lighter than other core materials.
Insulating:
In Temperature Rise Tests*, SafeCore® remains well below the maximum allowed temperature limit on the non-fire side of the door. This is because of the superior insulating properties of the SKAMOTEC™ 300 core material.
Built-in Technology:
SafeCore® is a proprietary core with patented design (U.S. Patent No. 6,434,899). The result is in strength, durability and excellent screw holding capability. Because it is lighter than most cores, stress is relieved on the door’s hardware components. The installer will appreciate the SafeCore® Door’s light weight and no added intumescent required at the job site (positive pressure category A applications). SafeCore® is also available for neutral pressure applications and category B positive pressure applications.
Flexibility:
SafeCore® is made to order with a wide choice of wood stile species and internal blocking options. Inner stiles and rails are of a high-density mineral composite. Stiles are trimmed with 9/16” (15mm) wood allowing them to be trimmed and beveled as required. SafeCore® banded core come pre-sanded and ready for the addition of crossband and veneer, or pre-manufactured door skin. SafeCore® is available with minimal lead-time required for “just-in-time” delivery.
